20 Free ICF and Concrete House Plans To Check For Your Next Project - Today’s Homeowner
Concrete block houses have a number of benefits that make them an attractive option for many homeowners. They are extremely durable, meaning they can withstand high winds and severe weather conditions. They are also fireproof and require little maintenance. Additionally, concrete block houses tend to be cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter, thanks to their thermal mass properties.
ICF (insulated concrete form) homes offer many of the same benefits as concrete block houses, but with the added benefit of improved energy efficiency. ICF homes are well-insulated against both heat and cold, meaning they can help you save money on your energy bills. They are also very quiet since the walls block out noise from outside.
When it comes to building your dream home, there are many factors to consider. But one of the most important is choosing the right plans. And if you’re looking for free ICF and concrete house plans, you’ve come to the right place.

Whether you’re a general contractor, ICF builder, precast company, or a developer, there has never been a better time to rethink your concrete reinforcement and consider Helix® Micro Rebar™.
Is rebar really that great? Does it make crews happy? Does it create buildings as strong as they can be? Is it the fastest concrete reinforcement to complete time-sensitive developments? Perhaps there is a better way…
For those not familiar, Helix® Micro Rebar™ is the official alternative to rebar. It’s a one-inch steel rod twisted and combined with concrete to create a superior building product. Since its inception in 2003, it has been used in over 100 million square feet of slabs and more than 20,000 vertical structures, and counting.

Can household mold in Costa Rica affect your health?
Can household mold in Costa Rica affect your health? - Ivo’s Blog by Godutch Realty
The reason is that there are no household mold specialists in Costa Rica. Does that mean that household mold doesn’t exist in Costa Rica? Ha… with our rainy season? You must be joking.
In Costa Rica, household mold is called moho. Depending on where you live, you’ll have very little moho or you have lots of it.
We receive a nationwide average of 100 inches’ rainfall per year, which is in some regions up to 25 feet. That’s a bucket full. And with this rainfall, you get a lot of it.

MOLD - a SERIOUS issue in Costa Rica!! How to Deal with Mold & Allergies to MOLD while living in Costa Rica
Try to AVOID LEATHER or SUEDE things if you live in Costa Rica!!!!!!!
This was my FAVORITE Leather backpack!!! It was THE STURDIEST thing I've EVER seen as I had it for over 9 years (got it from the leather store/maker at Mercado Central in San Jose). MANY a week I'd stuff that thing with 2-4 2 liter bottles of Agua de Pipa (Coconut Water - THE BEST REMEDY I've yet to find to bring my high blood pressure down).
It was in a CLOSET IN a bag for about 6 months - during rainy season. Mind you on the other side of the closet was one of the houses water tanks which burst a few months back so there was a UNSEEN mold issue going on with this wall I think.
BOOOOO!!
Mold is a VERY SERIOUS issue with living in the Tropics - in Costa Rica!! I speak from first hand SERIOUS EXPERIENCE as I SUDDENLY developed a HUGE ALLERGY to MOLD - to the point that I was "out of it" once for 6 week - 1/2 of the time I HAD to sleep sitting up because I couldn't breathe & even 4 nebulizers & 2 IV Steroid Drips STILL didn't make a difference!! Once I was staying the night in a friends basement Maid's Quarters - a room my friend hadn't been into in YEARS so she wasn't aware that there was mold growing on the WALLS!! & I LITERALLY was hallucinating that night!!!

Is mold in Costa Rican homes acceptable?
Is mold in Costa Rican homes acceptable? - Costa Rica MLS
Recently, we had a home inspection rejected by a buyer because of a mold issue. I was as surprised as the seller was, because it is quite common to have mold in Costa Rican homes. Especially in the rainy season!
In this particular case, the mold was around the gutter’s downspout, two stories up from the unit we were selling. The condo administration was not ready to do anything about it, because we’re in the middle of the rainy season.
A couple of weeks ago, I received an email from someone who wanted to move to Costa Rica but he needed to be in a dry area. I checked online and found out that almost every part of Costa Rica has humidity anywhere between 75 – 85%. Only in Guanacaste, you get away with around 60%. Countries like Nicaragua, Mexico and Ecuador are a little bit drier, but only by 5 – 10%.

The use of insulating concrete forms has evolved to address many of today’s construction challenges and ambitions.
Around for more than 40 years, Insulating Concrete Forms (ICFs) represent a simple solution to achieve many government- and industry-led climate or environmental goals. Among their benefits are air tightness, labour savings, energy efficiency, resiliency, low carbon intensity, and more.
Most ICF systems can be described as two sections of expanded polystyrene insulation connected by a series of plastic ties. These may arrive on a jobsite in block form, or they may be assembled on site. Blocks have interlocking joints on their edges to connect them together to form the structure. Steel rebar is placed horizontally on the webs and then concrete is cast in the form to create a structural wall. The plastic webs are embedded in the expanded polystyrene insulation and create flanges that the contractor can use to attach exterior and interior finishes. Many ICF companies have specially designed forms for brick ledges and corners.

Is ICF the Best Kept Secret in Home Building?
Is ICF the Best Kept Secret in Home Building?
This Ohio home builder thinks so and has a pair of new developments to prove it.
Steve Boone remembers his initial reaction to insulated concrete form (ICF) like it was yesterday, “This is ridiculous.”
Who can blame a former framing contractor for thinking that? A single-family home built with steel-reinforced, cast-in-place concrete? Formed with foam blocks stacked like Legos? It was … well, different.
That was 10 years and 20 ICF homes ago. Today the multifamily and custom home builder is all in on ICF.
“I’d like to hire three or four more people,” admits Boone, pondering a long pipeline of projects, including two multifamily and single-family communities, one nearing completion and the other in late-stage development.
